About Patricia
Mental health, like physical health, is different for everyone, with people at varying psychological or physical fitness levels. I believe that an excellent physical fitness trainer or coach will assess their client to determine their fitness level and the kind of exercise that comes naturally to them. Then, the trainer will put together a specific plan; similarly, individuals are unique in their presentation and experiences in mental health. Therefore, I begin my relationship with my patients with a comprehensive, detailed assessment.
I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I started my career in general medicine over 25 years ago. My patients initially had a variety of illnesses, including mental illnesses. Five years into my practice, it evolved into seeing only psychiatric patients. Psychiatry chose me. I have worked with various mental health conditions, including Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, and other mental illnesses. I take an individual approach in evaluating the person to get to know their individual perceptions. story and cultural nuances. Their emotions and experiences are unique to them. As their partner, I can help them find the best treatment options. I respect my patients’ opinions and listen to their stories.
As a Mental Health Provider, my approach is to use a combination of evidence-based mental health psychiatry, integrative and functional psychiatry, proven complementary, and other non-mainstream psychiatric treatment modalities. My goal is to help my patients reach their mental health goals, whatever those goals may be. There are no two treatment plans that are the same. I see my role not only as a psychiatric provider but as a partner, a coach, supportive, educational, and nurturing, helping patients choose the best medication and treatment options for them as the unique individual they are. An individual treatment plan is a foundation for reaching that goal.
My life journey includes staying in various countries, including Africa, Scotland, England, Russia, and currently, The United States. I met and worked with people from all over the world. I met people who deny the existence of mental illness, including medical professionals and people who are ashamed of their mental illness. I know what it feels like to be dismissed by health professionals and unable to talk to family and friends. I listen to my patients professionally and with my heart.
